About

Shaakira Haywood Stewart, PhD

I am a psychologist licensed in the state of New York. At the core of my practice, I specialize in individual therapy for adults and consulting with organizations and brands.

My approach is uniquely tailored to every client’s needs. I intentionally cultivate space for you to show up authentically with a sense of safety. I firmly believe our work together will cultivate small habits that will become big habits that pave the way for a better future until they eventually become who you are.

My style is transparent and genuinely compassionate. I take a holistic approach to therapy, considering your physical, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being.

My clinical training is from a psychodynamic therapy, interpersonal therapy, and multicultural orientation perspective.

During my undergraduate career, I played for four consecutive years on the NCAA Division I Women’s Basketball team. This unique experience propelled me to seek a graduate career in psychology to better understand the connection between athletics, mental health, and marginalized identities.
